Getting involved in community activities or volunteering can boost a kids confidence and build skills. We organized a number of events specifically for our local home school kids to have fun together. The Museum hosted a program to bring local students together once a month to learn, build relationships with each other, and dive deeper into the great community we are. We have noticed if our youth take interest in the community, they can grow to do more and learn to respect our past and honor those that came before us. Over a series of Tuesdays, We did many things including a tour of the museum along with a scavenger hunt and making butter. We hosted our local first responders and toured the fire department. We learned about tools and unique devices of our past, and had lots of tasty treats along the way, including popsicles and apple pie! We ended the season with a Christmas ornament craft. Thank you to all our young participants!

To celebrate Kansas Day, we hosted a barn quilt class. The weather was a little crummy but we had a few ladies come in to craft their own set of four unique barn quilts. |

Traditionally, a Mandala is a geometric design or pattern that, rooted in rich history, is also proven to relax the body and mind. Mandala first appeared in the 4th century in India inside Buddhist monasteries.
Buddhist monks created mandalas because the meditative process helped train their minds to become more enlightened. Similarly, in present times, mandala art making is great for those of us looking to unwind through artistic process. To learn this technique we invited our teacher, Sonja Ottaway-Ottlinger. A Towanda native, and Circle High graduate. The art of Mandala can be painted on many items, but our class will be created the smooth black rock as pictured. A technique that lasts a lifetime! It was a full house and everyone had a wonderful time! |

You can't deny "Winston" likes all the attention he can get from the locals. This is the second year we have had him headline the Goats and Floats event and everyone always enjoys having him visit. It was another hot summer, but the ice cream floats always help keep us cooled down! The year we had a local youth, Teddy, setup her crocheted creations to sell, and everyone seemed to really enjoy her presence and all the cute things she makes. Thank you for joining us this year! |

Our second hear hosting a proper High Tea was a fun success! This year we had a few younger faces join us, as well as a few out of town guests. Bev Smith graced us with a reading of her poem, "Kansas Ladies First", which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! There were not many things left from the three course meal that was served. Even with a few last minute cancellations due to illness, we were able to fill the seats with attendees. This is one event we look forward to hosting every year! A special thank you to Nicole Babb-Cooke for sending us some pictures wonderful pictures she snapped! |

With some really wet and cold weather we were once again pleasantly surprised by the large turnout in down town Towanda! The event was moved indoors to all the businesses on Main Street, but that didn't keep the spooky critters from adventuring out for the afternoon. LOTS of candy was passed out! |

We had a very nice visit from Santa this year, who handed out Christmas snack cakes and candy canes to all the little ones. With the Wacky Tacky Christmas theme this year, the museum was all decked out with LOTS of decor! The City did a great job decorating downtown as well! We did a little something different this year by giving out prized every 15 minutes, which kept the excitement going throughout the evening. We had a great crowd of people stop in and served light snacks and hot cider. It was wonderful to end the year at the museum with all the familiar faces around town. Merry Christmas Towanda! |

Such a fun holiday experience! We hosted Hannah from Sister Sweets as she lead the class in holiday cookie decorating. The class was full and everyone did a wonderful job decorating. It was so nice getting some tips from Hannah, as many ladies in the class had never decorated on this level before. One of our favorite things to see was how different each individuals cookies turned out. |
